The design of the shape on the sides alleviates the horse’s elbow area from girth rubs. The large area of the girth is not for stud protection. It’s a unique design that redirects pressure from the horse’s sensitive rib cage area towards the less sensitive sternum area: the pressure from the girth is directed on to the horse’s sternum, which is less sensitive to pressure, and the special shape and innovative use of materials protect the delicate area around the elbow.. Amerigo made this protector dressage girth with calfskin and Vibram rubber. The use of high-quality rubber, “Vibram brand rubber” on this anatomic dressage girth helps with strength and stability without sacrificing flexibility. It’s the same quality rubber you will find on good hiking boots. Amerigo also uses this rubber on their stud girths. First, there is the anatomic design which reduces rubs to horse’s elbow area.
